Janet Murray is a classically trained musician and top-ranked piano instructor with nineteen years of teaching experience.
Mrs. Murray has been educated in music from childhood, through college, and has taught and lectured in the Bay area for 19 years. Her students become self-confident in their playing -- and performing -- skills. She has played recitals in California, Washington, Texas, New Mexico, Virginia and performs regularly for local events.
Janet Murray has ongoing adult piano keyboard classes in a supportive, enthusiastic group environment on a time-available basis. Mrs. Murray takes a holistic view toward music education in general and piano in particular. Music theory, interpretation, form, style, and technique all play roles in musical development. Students learn time and key signatures, note reading and chords by playing familiar tunes from classical to spiritual to rock. Technique and theory are part of the lessons. Time is set aside in class for practice. This is a chance to learn basic keyboard and use it to play loved songs for family and friends' celebrations.
Private lessons are available on an arranged-time basis at MUSIC ONE STUDIOS. A number of students prepare and perform in the National Van Cliburn competitions.
