National Fraternity of Student Musicians

Five students from Music One Studios have gained membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians, sponsored by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Teacher Division of the AMerican College of Musicians, of which their teacher, Janet Murray, is a member.  The group of young pianists erpformed in the National Piano-PLaying Auditions, held at Alamo/East  Bay.  The American College of Musicians evaluates the musicians' performances based on presentatopn pf tje fpir eras of music composition.  Each student performs in the prescense of an adjudicator who examinies their repertoire..

 

The names of the local entrants are:  Erik Gurney, Jordan Simpson, Aileen, Thomg, Brandon, Thong, and Luna Flynn.

Janet Murray, Bruce Maxwell, Howie Lee, and Justin Levitt perform at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall on April 23, 2011.  Billed as "The Contra Costans - Musicians with Day Jobs", the performance encompasses the grandieur of Beethoven, the demands of Bach, the soaring joy of Grieg, and compositions of our composer-in-residence.
